:] TITLE Clever Katya
:] AUTHORS Julia Donaldson & Jane Kochnewitz
:] PUBLISHER Ginn and Company
This is an interesting story about Czar who thought he was the cleverest in Russia but Katya,a rural farmer's daughter proved him wrong. By not completing tasks given by Czar, she gives reasonable explainations to him ,twisting it around saying that she needs his help which was impossible for him to fulfill too. When Czar realised she was smarter than him, he decided to marry her but on her condition that when he get fed up of her and sends her back home, she will be allowed to take one thing she loved best in the palace. That very day came and Katya fulfilled her condition . Waking up in a large chest , Czar found himself staring at Katya in her father's house. Katya explained his promise and Czar was amazed. They returned to the palace and lived hapily ever after.
I have a feeling that the author wants to tell us to not think of ourselves as the brightest. Being humble is always the right thing to do. Act smart and think before you do before agreeing on anything. I have learnt not to be like Czar and to act wisely like Katya.
